Donald Trump won a sweeping victory in the 2024 Presidential election and appointed a new generation of young leaders to Presidential Cabinet positions. Derrick Johns is a Gulf War Marine veteran and local businessman who has created several successful start-up biotech companies. Derrick authored his college thesis on Viral Evolution – What Would Darwin Say?, in 1995, well before it was a kitchen table term. Hence, Derrick has an extraordinary understanding of Virology and Government Agencies such as NIH and FDA that abused the public trust during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Derrick met his wife, Jennifer in 1983 and dated throughout high school and his service in the Marine Corps. They reside in Liberty Hill and have two daughters, Erynn and Kaitlynn. Both daughters have followed in his footsteps into military service. Erynn graduated from Army West Point in May of 2021,  Derrick  rendered Erynn her first salute upon graduation. She is currently an Ordnance Officer with the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Carson. Their younger daughter Kaitlynn is a 2023 graduate of the US Naval Academy and is serving as an Ensign aboard the USS Bainbridge.

Derrick attended Hamilton College which was founded by Alexander Hamilton in 1812. Hamilton was a co-author of the Federalist Papers with James Madison and John Jay which are likely the most insightful essays on the structure of our Constitutional Republic. The role of Government is to secure our borders and protect the rights of the minority while the majority rules. That is no small task, especially in the face of “career politicians” who go off to Washington DC and forget the voters in their district who elected them. It is time for a new generation of leadership that has a firm grip on the original intent of Madison, Hamilton and Jay and their vision for our Constitutional Republic.
